Driveway Standards
Residential Properties:
- Driveways must be paved with asphalt, concrete, or other materials as approved by the City Engineer. Coal-tar based sealer is prohibited
- Parking areas located in the front yard or parking areas draining to the street shall be paved with asphalt or concrete.
- The total square footage of driveways and parking areas shall not exceed 35% of the front yard area.
- Driveways cannot exceed 24 feet in width at the curb and property lines
- Driveways shall be 40 feet in length or to the garage, whichever is less
- Cannot have more than one driveway, except properties that have more than 180 lineal feet of street frontage may be permitted 2 driveways
- Driveways must be located at least 5 feet from the side lot line and have a minimum of 3 feet landscaped separation between adjacent driveways
- Non-paved driveways shall be paved prior to the sale of a property, except for properties whose main access is on a non-paved roadway
Commercial, Office or Industrial Uses:
- Must be paved with asphalt, concrete, or other materials as approved by the City Engineer. Coal-tar based sealer is prohibited
- Driveways cannot exceed 32 feet in width at the curb and property lines
- Driveways shall be 40 feet in length or to the garage, whichever is less
- Driveways must be located at least 5 feet from the side lot line and have a minimum of 3 feet landscaped separation between adjacent driveways
- Non-paved driveways shall be paved prior to the sale of a property, except for properties whose main access is on a non-paved roadway
Permit Required
Property owners are required to obtain a Paving Permit for any paving or parking lot repair projects. Overlaying existing hard surfaces does not require a permit.
