Newport Pioneer Day

The City’s annual get-together celebration, Pioneer Day is to be held on the second Sunday in August at Pioneer Memorial Park at 611 4th Avenue. The festival is on August 14th, 2022 this year.  The festivities begin with a parade and is jam-packed with fun.

Parade at 11:00 a.m. - The parade begins at Newport Fire Hall, 155 20th Street. The parade will make its way down 2nd Avenue to 17th Street where it will go to 4th Avenue and make its way to Pioneer Park.

Live music and entertainment from 12:00 to 5:00 pm
  • The Bad Companions, a rockabilly band - 12:00-2:30 pm
  • Radical Reptile Adventure, live reptiles presented by the Rad Zoo - 3:00-4:00 pm
  • Love that Dirty Water, preserving the Mississippi River interactive demonstration - 4:00-5:00 pm

There is food, vendors, games, bingo from 1:00-4:00 pm, k-9 demonstration, a car show, and the St. Paul Park-Newport Lions Club's beer and wine tent. All you can eat corn on the cob will be available with the purchase of a Pioneer Day button, which is available each year to purchase at Newport City Hall, the Library and Community Center and at various local businesses starting in July.  Buttons sell for $3, or 4 for $10.
