2040 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
The City is beginning the update of one of its most important planning tools, the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive plan is updated every 10 years. It lays out the City’s plans for land use, housing, economic development, transportation, parks, trails, public facilities and utilities. The Draft Plan will be completed in late 2017. It will be reviewed by surrounding communities and other affected organizations, and then sent to the Metropolitan Council for approval. The approved plan must be adopted by the City Council by December 2018.
The Planning Commission and City Council are leading the update, with assistance from City staff and consultants. The Planning Commission and Council invite the public (residents, businesses, and others) to attend an open house meeting on February 28, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall to give their ideas and input about the City’s future for the plan. The meeting will include a brief presentation about the plan, and a discussion about goals and priorities for the City through 2040.
The City is also seeking input through a survey. Bulletin boards will also be up at various locations throughout the City where individuals can fill out postcards.
The City will be updating this page periodically with information on the 2040 Comprehensive Plan update.
